AEPI SAN JOSE

The JEWISH FRATERNITY
AEPI
Alpha Epsilon Pi is The premiere Jewish fraternity at SJSU. We offer the best college experience for all San Jose State students and create memorable friendships for a lifetime. Alpha Epsilon Pi (ΑΕΠ or AEPi), the global Jewish college fraternity, has 166 active chapters in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, France, and Israel with a membership of over 9,000 undergraduates. Alpha Epsilon Pi is a Jewish fraternity, though non-discriminatory and open to all who are willing to espouse its purpose and values
Alpha Epsilon Pi National:
In 1913, a Jewish college student at New York University by the name of Charles C. Moskowitz was admitted to a fraternity because of his great basketball skills. Upon receiving his bid, he asked for subsequent bids for his tight knit circle of Jewish friends, but received disappointing news, learning the bid was extended only to him. Despite being denied admission for his friends, Founder Moskowitz still saw virtue in being part of a fraternity, so he and his friends, with whom he had already met with on a weekly basis, considered the idea of beginning a Jewish Fraternity, Alpha Epsilon Pi.
Charles C. Moskowitz as its first founder, Alpha Epsilon Pi started on its humble beginnings, nightly meetings in the basement of a German restaurant. The founders, officially known as the Immortal Eleven, would meet to discuss the proper functions of a Jewish fraternity, and how it could flourish despite the busy schedules of all of its founders. After months of deliberation, the men decided to make their fraternity official in the eyes of the university office, an undertaking that was met with great success.
Today, Alpha Epsilon Pi is a premiere Jewish fraternity, spanning North America with 155 chapters in 100 years of existence. Through hard work, loyalty, and a dedication to survive as a fraternity, the men of Alpha Epsilon Pi created an everlasting home for college age Jewish men. It is with this drive that we continue in the spirit of Founder Moskowitz and help Alpha Epsilon Pi continue to thrive forever more.
ABOUT
Alpha Epsilon Pi Chi Psi:
A much younger group, the men of the Chi Psi Chapter of Alpha Epsilon Pi also hold a special place in AEPi lore. Known as the Founding 19, these young men took the ideals of Alpha Epsilon Pi to heart when, on Tax Day, April 15th, 2006, they officially founded the Chi Psi colony of Alpha Epsilon Pi to represent San Jose.
Located in downtown San Jose just a couple blocks from SJSU and the Hillel of Silicon Valley, the Chi Psi house is a popular hangout for its brothers, before, during, and after school. The house holds many events including: socials with sororities, brotherhood events, parties, and several philanthropic events. The Chi Psi chapter is among the elite of fraternities in San Jose. The Chi Psi chapter portrays an excellence that we feel no one can match.
Alpha Epsilon Pi, the Global Jewish Fraternity, was founded to provide opportunities for Jewish men seeking the best possible college and fraternity experience. We have maintained the integrity of our purpose by strengthening our ties to the Jewish community and serving as a link between high school and career. Alpha Epsilon Pi develops leadership for the North American Jewish community at a critical time in a young man's life. Alpha Epsilon Pi's role is to encourage the Jewish student to remain dedicated to Jewish ideals, values, and ethics and to prepare the student to be one of tomorrow's leaders so that he may help himself, his family, his community, and his people
